Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival

On Thursday 10th October 2024 the choir sang at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground as part of the Nottingham Beer Festival. We had a great time entertaining the crowd, who all seemed to be having a good time too! We also got the opportunity to sample a few beers and ciders during the afternoon.

 

TIMFEST 6

On July 19th 2024 the choir took part in the annual concert in the garden event, which this year was raising funds for Emmanuel House Homeless Support Centre in Nottingham. £565 was raised on the day. 

Concert with Bramcote Primary School

On Saturday 29th June 2024 the choir sang in a joint concert with the children from Bramcote Church of England Primary School. The audience and all those who took part thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which was held at St Michael's church, Bramcote.

80th Anniversay of D-Day landings

On 6th June 2024 the choir sang at Woodnook recreation ground (Selston) as part of the beacon lighting events that took place across the country.

2 in 1 Concert with Bestwood male voice choir

On Saturday 18th May 2024 we sang at Daybrook in a joint concert with Bestwood male voice choir. Although our numbers were a little low, we really enjoyed the experience. The audience were appreciative of the two different styles that were presented by the choirs.

Spring Concert 2024

On April 13th the choir sang to a very enthusiastic packed crowd along with Rachel our MD, Teresa our accompanist, Oliver the drummer and newly-recruited Ben on electric guitar. A massive 'Thank you!' to everyone that came along to support us, including members of Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes, and all those that helped with planning and running the event.

Christmas Events 2023

On November 17th the choir sang to the residents and staff at Amberley Care Home at Calow, and on December 1st the choir sang to the residents and staff at Edward House Care Home at Eastwood. Both concerts were thoroughly enjoyed by all those present.

In the evening of December 1st, the choir sang at the Christmas lights switch-on at Selston.

On December 13th the choir sang at Underwood Miners Welfare

On December 22nd a small number of choir members sang at the Horse & Jockey (Selston)

On December 9th, the choir held its Annual Christmas Concert at Selston Parish Hall.

It was a great success, feedback from the audience was very positive.

Greasley Church Concert with ECMVC

On Saturday October 14th 2023 we held a joint concert with Eastwood Collieries' Male Voice Choir. We sang to a very enthusiastic packed house and had a very enjoyable evening singing several new songs along with other favourites. Oliver joined us on drums and did a great job of accompanying us alongside Teresa our talented keyboard player.

TIMFEST 5

On Sunday August 6th, the choir sung as part of the annual TIMFEST event, raising money for the Nottingham Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group. Some members of the choir also played music and sang, and over £600 was raised on the day.

 

Selstock Festival August 4th 2023

 

On Friday August 4th 2023, we sang at the Selstock Beer and Music festival at the Horse and Jockey (Selston). The concert was outside and we were extremely lucky that it was dry and reasonably warm after a spell of very unsettled weather. We sang to a reasonably large crowd who enjoyed the songs and even wanted an encore! We crowd was generous with donations as we passed the collection bucket around for Maggie's Cancer Support charity.

Underwood Festival July 8th 2023

 

On Saturday July 8th 2023, we sang at the annual Underwood Festival, from the back of a lorry. The weather was very wet and Rachel our MD had to stand in the rain to conduct us. Although the weather conditions were poor, we still managed to sing well and got good feedback from some of the few people who braved the rain.

Belper Church Concert with East Midlands NAC choirs

On Saturday May 20th 2023 we held a joint concert with four other choirs from the National Association of Choirs (East Midlands). The other choirs taking part were Alfreton Male Voice Choir, Bestwood Male Voice Choir, Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir and The Sonara Singers. The concert provided a varied programme and was enjoyed by a packed audience. 

 

'Spring into Song' at St Michael's Church Underwood

 

On Saturday April 29th 2023, we held a concert at St Michael's Church Underwood to raise money for Maggie's Centre and the re-ordering of the church. We sang to a packed house who were very enthusiastic and appreciative. This is the first time we have sung with a drummer - Oliver who along with Teresa our accompanist, added extra dynamics to the performance.

Elderberries - 10th February 2023

The choir sang to the Elderberries Group at Greasley Parish Hall in February 2023. It was a great concert, we were really pleased with the sound we made. Rachel the MD injected lots of energy and enthusiasm into the performance.

Rockin' Around The Christmas tree

 

In December 2022, the Rock 'n' Soul Singers took part in their first Christmas Concert since 2019. Although the concert date clashed with an England World Cup match, the concert was well attended and went down really well. Choir members thoroughly enjoyed themselves. On 7th December 2022 the choir sang at the Methodist Church Hall to a large audience including the Mayor of Ripley.

Underwood Community Centre

In June 2022, The choir was asked to sing at a local event at the Underwood Community Centre to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Songs were chosen from each of the previous 70 decades of the Queen's reign.

Elderberries - Greasley Parish Hall 2022

On Friday 11th March, the choir sung to the Elderberries over 60s group at Greasley Parish Hall. This was the choir's first concert after COVID and it was extremely enjoyable to sing to an audience again.

Rock 'n' Soul Christmas Concert 2019

On Saturday 14th December, the choir held their annual Christmas concert at Selston Parish Hall.
